Briançon, 425 km of Alpine ski terrain
Unlike most other French ski resorts, Briançon belongs to an elite club of resort towns. Given its location at 1,200 m altitude, skiing fans can ski directly back down into the village. A real treat for winter sports fans.
Fortified town in the heart of the Alps
Located in the south of the Alps just 15 km from Italy, it is still possible to witness Briançon’s military history even today: see the disused forts and barracks and Vauban's town fortifications in particular, which received UNESCO World Heritage classification in 2009, living alongside more recent facilities (shops, ski rentals outlets, etc. ).
What is there to do in Briançon?
In conjunction with four other ski areas (Serre Chevalier Vallée, Montgenèvre, Puy-Saint-Vincent and Pelvoux-Vallouise), the Briançon sector offers exceptional ski conditions. With pistes for all ability levels (197 runs in all, served by 108 ski lifts), and routes through both forest and fields of powdery snow, any skier can find their heart's desire.
As regards activities and shopping, naturally, your essential skiing needs are covered (ski lessons and equipment hire, equipment for sale, etc.), but there are also plenty of bars and restaurants to keep you occupied on the cold winter nights. A water park, skate park and climbing wall complete the roster of activities on offer in this resort.
Good to know: must-see hockey matches
The local team (one of the best in France) regularly plays home games. An unmissable spectacle! As a resort town, Briançon offers everything one could wish for to enjoy the perfect skiing holiday.
