Saalbach, an iconic resort
Saalbach is one of the most well-known ski resorts in Austria. Located in the state of Salzburg, it is particularly suited to skiers and snowboarders who also love a party.
A massive ski area
Saalbach thinks big! The resort spans an entire valley, with the base of the slopes lying at an altitude of 900 metres and the highest point at 2100 metres. The ski area, which is linked up to that of Hinterglemm, offers more than 270 km of slopes (140 km of blue runs, 112 km of red runs and 18 km of black runs), served by no fewer than 70 ski lifts. Snowboarders won’t miss out on the fun, thanks to the 12 km of slopes reserved exclusively for them. Despite its relatively low elevation, Saalbach’s ski area enjoys excellent snow cover owing to the microclimate from which the region benefits. And to cater for all of its visitors, it has numerous ski hire shops and outlets selling equipment, in case there’s something you’re missing.
Good to know: Saalbach leaves no-one behind!
While the resort of Saalbach is an absolute gem for alpine skiing — and has sometimes hosted World Cup events in this discipline — it also has something for freestylers, with 5 snowparks dotted around the ski area.
When night falls, it’s time to party!
There are countless things to do in Saalbach. In the daytime, try ice skating or curling, or take a dip in the waterpark, which also includes a spa. When night falls, Saalbach comes alive. The resort is a highly popular destination among party-lovers, owing to the many bars where the Austrian beer flows, the typical restaurants or world-influenced eateries, and the clubs where you can party until dawn.
Snow as far as the eye can see, a friendly atmosphere and slopes for all abilities: Saalbach is not to be missed! To ensure you’re fully equipped to take on this vast ski area, head to the Saalbach Skiset shop at the foot of the slopes to hire your ski kit.
