Kaprun is a ski resort situated in the Pinzgau region of Austria, linked to the Zell & See resorts. In 1893, Nikolauss Gassner created access to the famous Sigmund Thun Klamm gorge. Even today, it's natural scenery never fails to delight visitors. It was in 1955 that the Tauernkraftwerke hydroelectric powerstations were built, which provide the main energy supply for Austria. The 20th century has witnessed a boom in the tourism & ski industry, with holiday makers flocking from all over the world to stay in Kaprun. The following sporting activities are available in Kaprun : 15km of magnificent cross country tracks, glacier skiing, snowboarding & carving skiing. As the resort is linked to Zell and See, skiers and boarders can uncover an area with over 130km of slopes, togehter with being able to show off there skills on the snowparks and half-pipe.
