The slopes themselves are opening this weekend and Saturday 28th November is the first day of winter in the Espace Killy, meaning that the lifts in Tignes and Val d'Isere are almost ready to brrr into action.
The Espace Killy features 300km of ski slopes, two snowparks, two boardercross courses and a Gliss'Park that are waiting for your skis to explore them.
Val d'Isere's 'opening slopes weekend' this week is also an opportunity for you to test the latest ski and snowboard kit for the 2015/16 season.
Despite being high up in the mountains amid large amounts of snow, La Plagne and other resorts in the Tarentais area are very accessible, and there are few more exciting ways to get there than by train.
While it may be true that the mainline rail access only goes as far as Bourg St Maurice, from there the funicular will do the rest, although there is the slightly less romantic option of a taxi.
Morzine is certainly a great place to visit this winter as the familiar superb slopes, magnificent scenery and great apres ski all offer perennial reasons to visit this fine resort.
That alone will be enough to get some making their ski and snowboot hire arrangements, but there are plenty of new additions to the resort.
We have already learned that there will be a new blue run for visitors to the Portes du Soleil to enjoy, with this being named Blue Velvet in a competition, appropriately enough as that was the name of the winning flick in the town's film festival in 1987.
The schedule has been revealed for the Kandahar Alpine Skiing World Cup 2016, which will take place in Les Houches in the Chamonix valley.
It will take place on the weekend of February 19th and 20th 2016, after the dates were ratified by the International Ski Federation (ISF). It will consist of a super combined downhill and slalom on the 19th and a downhill on the 20th.
As an extra incentive, the ISF has announced it is creating a new Crystal Globe trophy for the winner of the combined competition over the two days.
As the ski season continues to get started in various Alpine resorts, the fun has definitely begun in Obergurgl and Hochgurgl.
Yesterday (November 12th) saw the ski lifts rolling at both villages for the first time this season, as those who had already made their ski and snowboard hire arrangements were able to hit the pristine slopes.
Doubtless many more will want to join them, but if so, it may be a good idea to take care in front of those webcams.
