Châtel, a resort in the heart of the Les Portes du Soleil ski area

Situated at an altitude of 1200 metres, at the crossroads between France and Switzerland, the Châtel resort occupies a privileged position in the heart of one of the largest ski areas in Europe. With its picturesque mountain charm, it provides a considerable level of comfort and has all the necessary infrastructure for good skiing, including numerous runs and lifts, and outlets for hiring ski gear and all kinds of equipment.

A traditional and family-oriented resort

The resort has a very pleasant atmosphere, and its preserved picturesque architecture gives it a touch of authenticity. The village has two centres (Linga and Super Châtel), which are linked to one another by a free shuttle service. Both centres have all the shops you could need and want during a stay in the mountains: groceries and food shops, restaurants and bars, ski hire outlets, and more.

What’s there to do in Châtel?

Seasoned skiers can access the main central zones of the ski area in a matter of minutes, thanks to a cable car link. But Châtel also gives its visitors the chance to go snowshoe hiking over 7 marked routes and enjoy 40 kilometres of Nordic skiing tracks, as well as an ice rink.

With its 45 ski runs, 43 ski lifts, and numerous ski hire outlets, the resort is guaranteed to charm snow sports enthusiasts.

Within the Les Portes du Soleil ski area there are 8 French resorts and 4 Swiss resorts, which are connected to one another by ski lifts. This means you have access to 650 kilometres of runs.
