The Early Ski at Val Thorens, an amazing sight

For this reason, it usually means that you'll have to get up early, in order to beat the rest of the crowds and start the day the way you mean to continue. On Wednesday 10th February you can take part in The Early Ski in Val Thorens, an event that will see you at the top of the three valleys. It's one of the most beautiful views that you will come across in the area and it will remain virtually unspoiled until you hurtle down the hill.

You'll be able to join in the fun by meeting at 8am at the Funitel Peclet, from there you'll head up the mountain with the ski patrol and watch how the experts attend to the mountainside. The event is run by Magic in Motion and if you want to take part, you'll need to book ahead on the Magic Website as places are limited and it's an unsurprisingly popular activity.

Setting up the kids for life

For many people, making ski and snowboard hire arrangements will have just been a simple task to ensure they have the right gear under their feet. Add to that the right clothing and then it was just a case of booking the flights and the accommodation - and then having fun in spades.

Of course, things change over time and never more so than when children arrive. That can transform life in many ways, but is does not mean skiing holidays are off the agenda. Indeed, for many parents it will be a priority on holiday to make sure their kids get the bug for winter sports too.

Aware of such desires, On The Snow has produced its own guide to making sure the first ski break with the little ones goes well.

Aim high at Val Thorens

With September having arrived, it is now officially autumn, although just now it is hardly going to look any different from August - especially when it rains.

Many winter sports fans will feel that way too, with little thought for getting some skis or snowboards. Indeed, those who like to do summer sports as well will still be a few weeks away from putting their cricket pads or tennis rackets back in the cupboard.

However, for those who are in the know, there is plenty of year-round skiing and while the winter snows may be yet to arrive at most resorts, they will soon be abundant at the highest altitudes, supplementing the year-round fun offered by glaciers.

With the Easter break imminent, you may be conjuring up plans for you and your family. There are many ways to spend the Easter holiday, from visiting a scenic location in the UK to holding an Easter egg hunt for your little ones in your garden.
But rather than staying close to home, why not go abroad this Easter? A ski resort is the perfect destination at this time of year. What's more, most resorts are family-friendly and offer a range of fun-filled activities that you and your loved ones are bound to enjoy.

New Year's Eve at Val Thorens

With the Christmas festivities over and everybody still in high spirits, there's no better time than the present to begin planning your New Year's Eve celebrations.

It's true that this time of year can burn a hole in your pocket, what with purchasing tickets for events and taxi drivers charging double the standard fare. As a result, this can lead to a somewhat disappointing evening, which is why many people prefer to bring in the New Year in the comfort of their home, surrounded by their loved ones.

But this year, to avoid disappointment, why not break from your annual traditions by spending New Year's Eve at an exciting ski resort?
