The snow and romance is provided by a moonlight skiing event with Oxygene at La Plagne in France - of course this is an excellent opportunity for groups too, no one should miss out on the alpine sunset that stretches from Mont Blanc and across to the twinkling lights of Courchevel.
Being atop La Grande Rochette is the chance to savour a beautiful view and thanks to instructors on hand, it's also an opportunity to improve on your skills. It's recommended that skiers and boarders are comfortable on La Plagne blue runs as the experience will serve you well in the nighttime conditions. However, non-skiers and beginners don't have to miss out as a limited number of Taxi Skis are available at no extra cost.
For those who are interested, this moonlight skiing event is also going to be an introduction to transceiver searching, which searches for and transmits signals in case of an avalanche. This training is going to be of paramount importance, if you are going to be skiing in difficult terrain without an instructor. It's even more important if you think you will be skiing or snowboarding off-piste as the the risk of avalanches is heightened in this circumstance.
The moonlight skiing event at La Plagne is on Wednesday 6th January between 4.30pm and 10.30pm and it costs €80 per adult and €48 per child. Food and drinks such as wine, tea and coffee are included in the price of the ticket, you will also receive head torches, hot chocolate or vin chaud and return transport to your accommodation. If you're going to miss it, don't worry as the area will be holding another 15 of these same events during the year until Wednesday 20th April.
